Looking for a good story for english class..?

We have to pick a story and relate it to a societal issue, I was thinking about doing either domestic violence OR the effects of divorce on children, but I am having a hard time finding stories that represent this. The teacher used "I Stand Here Ironing" by Tillie Olsen and the issue of whether it is more beneficial for a mother to stay at home or to work outside of the home. Please help! This essay is due April 1st and I have no idea what story to use. Thanks :-)
